CubeSat PEGASUS Press Conference

On the 21st January a press conference will be held in the Vienna Planetarium, where the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, together with the TU Space Team, the Institute of Astrophysics of the University of Vienna, and the Austrian Space Forum, will present the project PEGASUS.

PEGASUS will be part of the 50 CubeSats large network that explores the thermosphere at an altitude of around 200 – 380 km. Despite the fact that the thermosphere protects us against high-energy radiation, little is still currently known about this important part of our earth’s atmosphere. Together with its redundancy factor, the network of CubeSats has the advantage of being able to collect data from several different points. This increases the scientific significance of the processed data and helps to eliminate any possible random and systematic errors. The general public also benefits from this program, especially since the deeper understanding of special atmospheric models, which are used in weather forecasts, benefits thousands of users in the world.

The press conference begins at 10h on the 21st January. Project details, the organisations involved and the science behind PEGASUS will be presented.

We are looking forward to all visitors!
